The Secret Conference and Festival

The Secret Conference and Festival is a two-day wine and food affair where you can find out all the tricks and tips of international and local gastronomists.

On Friday 25 and Saturday October 26 2013, Master Chefs will reveal some tips, tricks and long-kept family recipes. So grab your pen and note book and come to the Secret Festival at the Spier Wine Estate in Stellenbosch.

For the latest foodie trends, food-lovers can indulge in a number of lectures, presentations, secret dinners and exhibitions. It is now the second year that this culinary highlight takes place. A real food and wine festival, that honours South Africa’s best kept wine secret, Chenin Blanc.

What can you expect at the 2013 Spier Secret Food and Wine Festival Conference?

Food conference: Food is not only a provider for your necessities of life, it became a piece of art created to seduce you and send you on a sensory adventure. At the conference will be locally and globally lauded chefs present to tell you all the ins and outs of food.

Secret market: The secret market is a free and family-friendly market who gives everybody the opportunity to enjoy delicious food and drinks on Saturday October 26th from 9:00 to 15:00.  Are you a real connoisseur? There is a big variation of decadent dishes. There are also goods from well-known producers like The Creamery, Frankie Fenner and the local farmer from Spiers, farmer Angus. For the little ones there are farm animals. There will also be a fire available for those who want to braai/BBQ their newly bought meat.

Have dinner with Marije Vogelzang, who is a Dutchwoman who is the world’s first eating designer. Or have a talk with French wine farmer Nicolas Joly, owner and biodiversity pioneer. He gives a four-hour workshop on biodynamic farming on Saturday, 26 October from 12pm to 5 pm.
